The Terminals and Mary Rose Crook, Arc Cafe, Dunedin Saturday 14th Feb 2004
I still have the broken knee during this trip to delightful and somewhat ill weathered Dunedin that Valentines weekend. Not to say Dunedin isn’t home to delightful weather, but this weekend it seemed that light but constant rain was on the cards.
After being introduced to the amazing vocals of Mary-Rose Crook through recordings by The Renderers I was looking forward to seeing this gig. She did not fail to impress. Her voice traveled effortlessly yet somehow hauntingly across the room. Its a voice one can’t quite explain, its deep and sultry, yet delicate and fragile.
Following Mary-Rose, was her husband Brian Crook and his band,The Terminals. The crowd which had sat attentively to Mary-Rose stood and moved with vigour to The Terminals. They had their audience in their grasp.
