I am listening to drive by R.E.M. and Francine just came in, and asked
me if i was listening to ben harper, I am trying my hardest to be nice
but she is musically clueless. I offered her my copy of salmonella dub’s killervison, and she refused, then a day later we where listening to
the radio in the car and she commented on how she liked the song, which was off killervision that was playing on the radio, she didn’t want the cd
cause she didn’t recognise any of the tracks welcome to the 91zm-feed-me-by-a-spoon-music generation
sad isn’t it?
Still i guess sometimes i feel like a bit of a musical elitist, although
talking to nick about oval, or lisa about Pearl Jam i get pulled back down, and
remember i don’t know everything, and still have lots to learn… i am starting
to wonder if I react this way to Francine confusing harper with R.E.M, if i should
avoid applying for work in a record store, Simon and nick both have stories about working in their store, Simon at the height
of the spice girls fame and well, there actually seems to be a lack of appeal working there… although, i think i would still enjoy it, just for the fact that maybe once a week, i might have the chance to turn someone to something musically different.
