Earlier in the week I went on a mad rant to all that would listen about how dumb people can be. It was brought about by a letter in The Press about the idiocy of people who took their children to the beach when there was a tsunami warning in place.
Words cannot describe the stupidity.
This image is of the dry docks being inundated at Lyttelton in May 1960 when the Chilean Earthquake caused a 2.7m wave in the harbour. That same earthquake created 4.5m wave in Napier.
For those of us who partake in Civil Defence training, and in a disaster, will go to work to help others, I can’t help but feel mad at people who put their lives, and the lives of their children at risk.
