Month: December 2009

Finally

Its all booked, paid and the passport is off being renewed as we speak.
I quit work today also. Via email. What a cop out. There was no one there to tell face to face though. I would have told someone if there had been anyone around. I tried to be gracious in my resignation. I’d like a good reference, one that will get me a sweet job in London for a few months anyway. I arrived home from work to see a festival of drinking in my lounge.
Tim had friends over. That said, most of these folk are my friends too. They had wisely, or perhaps quite unwisely invested in 2 slabs of Southern Draught. I’m sure its a fine drop.

Hollan had consumed surely, more than his weight in beer and was in rather a cheerful mood.

It was nice, despite being bitterly cold, it was a hark back to the old days of the Log Cabin. Back to last Summer’s drunken haze.

Unfortunately I am succumbing to a headcold. It is not party time in my nose and ears. So I lay down and popped a few pills before returning to the social activity in the lounge.

Post Die! Die! Die! I surveyed the aftermath. Well some of it. The floor is sticky, there are a veritable $3 worth of recycling aluminum cans strewn across the floor.

Tomorrow is GlasTomBury. I am sure it will be a most entertaining New Years Celebration. Maybe my last in Christchurch for a while. Depends if there is anything worth coming back for.

(Did a Google search for Southern Draught, all I got was pictures of horses)

Really cute Spanish designer. Blanca Gomez.

I’m back in Christchurch, I’m glad I stayed as long as I did in Auckland. I actually enjoyed being there, waking up in the mornings to a cup of tea by my bedside.
Also, swimming at the beach every day… just heading down the hill to the beach, and lying in the tepid water.
Strange, I usually hate being up there and itch to get home.

As the plane left the airport, I realised the next take off from Auckland I would experience would be the one which would take me on my trip around the world.

Anyway. Home in Christchurch, its bloody cold in comparison to Auckland. I have a list of tasks a mile long to complete but I just want to be social.

I wish we could see the moon

I walked home from town with David.
squidward
Tonight we ventured down an alley way we’d never noticed before.

I love walking home with him. We always have these conversations and he draws out of me things I wouldn’t admit to other people.
I like his honest views on life and the universe.

I’m really going to miss the 15 minutes every few months that we spend dissecting our crushes and irrational thoughts on life.

A Christmas Story

A couple of nights ago I was ranting like a crazy woman about a film that used to play at Christmas time when I was growing up. All I could remember was how much I disliked it and there was a character always saying “You’ll shoot your eye out”.

So today I was blog-trawling and found someone had posted it. I now know the movie was called “A Christmas Story.”

According to IMBD, the 1983 movie is about a kid who wants a BB gun for Christmas. I vaguely remember this part.

I’d much rather watch the Sound of Music 100 times than ever see this film again Read more →

Summer Nights

So in the epic lead up to Christmas a lot of things are happening, or have happened.

Dinner at Caroline’s last night. It had kinda a couple of amazingly good moments during the night and ended with me giving out an impressive number of head massages. Melinda finally got what Will enjoys so much in getting a scalp massage.
It seems kind of creepy but it feels wonderful, and well its kind of a nice feeling to give them too.
That said, I need to go to a masseuse again, thanks to incredibly tight/sore neck and shoulders. Either that, or fine someone who is willing to return the favour of a good long back rub in exchange for an equally good one (or perhaps not quite as good, I’m not that picky).

Mr. James arrived and surprised T’Nealle. It made me swoon in delight at his arrival, and her surprise.
Today they had a picnic. Tonight they came for a BBQ.

Eamonn’s mum made our flat a hula hoop as a present. It got a good work out tonight.

Finally though, the BBQ ran out of gas, after 4 years since the gas bottle was filled. So we got a good run. But I won’t be refilling it before I leave. So probs no more BBQ times at the cabin.

We finished cooking the half BBQ food in the oven.

Ate outside till it got cold, and moved inside to discuss music blogs, benefits of Tumblr, Blogspot, Wordpress etc..
I also was asked to explain “googlehax”.

I gave no good answer outside of general geekery. Read more →

the clock never waits

I feel like I have no excuses right now.
Last night, I was made to realise I need to tell people more often that I really do love them. At the same time, telling people how I feel isn’t exactly something I am great at. So even though I think it, I bet I won’t act on it.

I think I might spend one of my days off next week going somewhere nice, and having a little bit of, well not alone time, but reflection time.

Things that keep me from total despair, and smiling when I feel a bit shit today are:

Dan’s business card, The thought of him as a project director- like the card says, makes me smile.

The box of unopened nice & natural Lunchbox Logs- which if I eat, will kill me. It was a present, however I’m allergic to the contents of the box.
