I’ve never seen Star Wars*
*I have
The title refers to a Radio 4 show hosted by Marcus Brigstock called ‘I’ve never seen Star Wars’. The premise of this radio show, is asking people (famous people) to do a selection of tasks that they have never done before and then describe and rate the experience out of 10.
(see: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/I%27ve_Never_Seen_Star_Wars_(radio_series))
I’ve never seen the TV series of the same, but would like to. I’ve been listening to episodes of this radio show for about 6 months now.
I don’t believe in resolutions for the New Year, but I will turn 30 in July this year. As the lovely Megan Gates asked her Facebook friends for 30 things to do before she turns 30.
I don’t want 30, and I don’t want them to be expensive (see the kind of things that the radio show asked people to do- I’m thinking that level). They have to be things I’ve never done.
Please add suggestions to the comments section.
Thanks!
Btw, to others turning 30 this year. Please read Danny Wallace’s ‘Friends like these’. Its a great book about being 29.

1990 music reminisce
I’m having a geek out. Apparently it is quite easy to access old songs off kiwi hit discs online.
Might I recommend you start with disc 39. No Feelers (Yay), however there is Tadpole (boo). Here is a song I liked a lot when this all came out. I’m at a guess it was 1998 or 1999.

Hah. Its called ‘Matt’ by a fairly average band called Mary. Who went on to do nothing at all.
I’m playing tracks to myself and seeing if I can guess the correct song within the first 10 seconds. Apparently I’m pretty good at this game. Thanks Sheep Technique. You taught me well.

2012.01
Its a hot day today, around 40 degrees out. So I sat outside in the morning while it was peaceful at the house. I really didn’t do anything much today.
I did a little gardening, cut some more rhubarb. Made it into a crumble.
2012, shaping up to be very domestic and dull.

My first attempts

So David and I went out pasting last night. For the first time I brought some of my own to put up.

the list
A couple of years ago, during a rant with Owen, I listed my bands I must see before I die.
My list was Ben Folds, Pavement, The Eels, Tegan and Sara, Cat Power and Mogwai.
In the last 2 years I have seen everyone but Mogwai and The Eels.
In 3 weeks I will only have The Eels left.

Tonight
Today was gloriously hot. On my way back from a long trip out to Brighton, I sent David a text message inviting him into the city for an evening walk. It was still balmy… we ate dinner on the library lawn, then David took me on a tour of the old Argus building. I was surprised with how easy it was to get into and climb. Well, easy, but quite the climb up to the top.

It’s quite hard to see, but there is a couple kissing in the centre of this photo, bathed in the light from the garage they are standing in front of.

After The Argus, we walked across the city traversing the laneways.

and spotting really enormous light fittings…

And spotting some of his previous work…

This is his latest piece in AC/DC Lane…

So with tired feet, we made it back to my house and had a cup of tea, before Mr. Klein cycled off into the night, on his flatmate’s hipster bike.

Me and my Aimee
So Aimee arrived last weekend in Melbourne. There may be some recollection of a post to this site last year when Aimee, Mandi and I drank too much, mocked beavers and sang our national anthems to one another. Well now she’s on my side of the globe for a few months. Colour me excited.
On Saturday we did the Melbourne ghost walking tour:

Tonight she came to the Fringe festival where I am working and geeked out over Dr. Who
