Last night I walked home alone from GBM to my house. Overall not the smartest idea but I was just so tired I didn’t care. My legs were freezing cold, and all I could think about was getting home into bed.
On the way down Madras St, I saw a massive accident with what looked like a bunch of drunk boy racers. Their cars were a mess, they were drunkenly swearing at each other laying blame. Then there was this couple, just standing there…. staring at the car which had destroyed their fence and entered their lounge.
I woke up this morning, kind of unaware of the coming home, I was just so tired. I had a recollection of getting into my bed, and that was all. I remember waking up at 4am with my laptop on. So I turned it off, and went back to sleep. When I turned it on this morning, there were 3 episodes of Never Mind the Buzzcocks on my desktop.
I’ve been sitting out on the front porch, enjoying the mild weather. Drinking a beer, finishing the final chapters of The Wind Up Bird Chronicle.
I had my headphones on listening to my ipod making itself a sweet mix while I read the book. Also what was nice, is that my glasses are now not giving me headaches wearing them.

I just added Owen’s Tumblr page to my links. I don’t know why I haven’t before
I <3 Owen's creativity. He takes the best pictures hands down of anyone I have ever associated with, actually my favourite ever photo is one of his.

This CD was made for Genie as part of a swap thing. I still haven’t finished Mandi’s. Well, I have, but I’m not happy with it. It’s meant to be a collection of interesting Kiwi tunes.
I wish I had a photo of the cover. It was space invaders inspired and took a long time to cut out and paste together.

Its been a busy week.
T’Nealle was in town for a week before flying out to New York again yesterday. So we hung out, it was her birthday on Wednesday so we went to Che Jaz for drinks. Thursday we had a tea party at her new flat for her birthday also.

Then T and I went to the Media Club for Kittentank and Thought Creature. I left early with Todd so I could go home and work on a funding application for Red Panda. Instead I woke up confused at 3am with the laptop on me and the TV playing informercials. I sort of failed on that account.
Friday I went out to Kowhai with Will and Nick. It was kind of entertaining. Its a very pretty place. I’d very much like to go out there without so many drunk people and just have a quiet night in the bush under the stars.
So many stars out there.

John and Stephen in the cabin

John… after too many drinks.
The bonfire was quite nice. It was very cold though. Maybe it would be nicer in the middle of summer.
After we made it back to Chch in the morning, I watched the entire BBC Pride and Prejudice on the couch under a blanket at Nick’s. I had my usual little squeals of delight in watching a lot of Colin Firth.
I eventually made it home for a shower. Jasper picked me up and we went to C1, but I really wasn’t totally ready to eat anything or do anything. We were just killing time until Maja’s exhibition opening anyway. I rang Joff from outside the opening as I’d just been talking to his old boss inside. It’s just such a small world sometimes. A lot of the time.
Jas dropped me off at Media Club and I hung round, finally felt like eating something and got some Subway. Sleepy Age played. It was a bit sloppy, but a couple of the songs sounded really good.

After their set we ran off to The Dux, I mostly hung out with Hayden’s girlfriend who is really nice. I mostly just coveted her shoes though.
I didn’t manage to get any good photos.

This is Josh jumping off the drum kit. They played much better though. Vocals sounded better at the Media Club but then they had Marcus working on the sound desk there. The crowd was really big but mostly disappeared for Tourettes, which sucks because he’s amazingly good. I guess they all went to GBM for more So So Modern. We went out to suburban nowhere for Courtney’s 21st party. I had my costume, but didn’t put it on. I would have frozen in it. I guess I’ll just save it for Halloween now.
My folks are in town, but they’ve ditched me for friends today. So I don’t know what I’m doing except going to see The Wizard of Oz at 5:30 tonight. Read more →

This is what Sarah made me.
She is amazing.

So this week has been a whirl wind of BBQ’s so far. I suspect the weekend will prove that I will eat more salad, bread and falafel. I’ve been working out the logistics of my upcoming weekend and have no idea how I’m going to fit everything in.
I have decided on one thing, that I will be Romilda Vane for Courtney’s Harry Potter party because it requires minimal effort.
Tonight I baked a cake for T’Nealle, who is celebrating her birthday tomorrow. No idea when I am going to have a moment to give it to her though. Super busy times! This is also emphasised by hers, and David’s half finished birthday presents. Yes, I know David’s birthday was a month ago.

mmm blurry
this is the cake I made for Nick’s Birthday. I took ages to make it, but it was the only creative thing he really got from me, so the time spent was justified.

Nick’s Party BBQ
speaking of presents, Sarah made myself and Nike the most amazing gift I have ever received.

Still not sure how I broke my website. It seems I have though, which is kind of crap. I am going to need to get Kale to tell me what I’ve done wrong though, because I seriously don’t “get” drupal beyond the really basic stuff.
I went to see Good Laika on Thursday night. They were excellent, it’s quite frustrating when you know a band should be bigger than they are but just haven’t made it big yet. The show was mostly family of the band. Still it was lovely and I’m secretly glad I got to enjoy it with a small group of friends.
Last night, exhausted from work, I went out at the encouragement of David. Nick, Timmy and Eamonn had gone to a party at Katie’s but I wasn’t really keen because Timmy’s description of what it was going to be like was pretty creepy. Hah.
David had gone to the rugby with his friend Ryan. I was lying in bed, in the warmth when David sent me a message asking what I was up to. Ashamed by how my Friday night was turning out I replied that I would meet them in town in 20 minutes.
We met at the Yellow Cross but as the rugby munters started to settle in, I suggested (foolishly) that we go to Le Petite Croix next door. As we wandered in I figured we might not have made the best decision as this place looked pretty pretentious. It’s probably the kind of place you go on those quiet romantic dates. Not with two guys who have just been hanging out at rugby with men with buckets on their heads and while wearing a $2 Op Shop purple rain coat.
Anyway determined to stick with our choice, we sat down and checked out the wine list. Ryan works for a wine exporter so he knew a bit about wines, but I didn’t discover that till a bit later. I ordered a creme brulee because I wanted something sweet. Ended up ordering a nice dry Riesling. David asked for a beer, Ryan ordered a Martini. We discussed Martini drinking preferences for a while. The waiter was French, and pretentious. David asked for a glass for his beer, it never came. The Martini was heavy on the Gin, so Ryan didn’t like it. He found it a bit strong, I would possibly agree. In the end I offered Ryan a swap and drank the cocktail and he drank my wine.
After that we went to GBM to see the T54. Hung out with Rose and Courtney at some Korean karaoke bar for a while. I suddenly felt quite tired but managed to struggle though the show. T54 was very loud. Perhaps a little too loud for the number of people in a small bar. GBM was quite empty actually. Pretty much everywhere is when the weather is bad.
I spent a large proportion of the Artisan Gun’s set, standing outside talking shit to a quite drunk Aidan. After the show David and I walked home and had a pretty intense conversation about relationships. I always wonder how I can give out advice on how relationships should work, but somehow I do. I never follow my own advice though. Read more →
