Woolly Jumpers and an Artic Monkey t-shirt.

So I got home not long ago from another radio show on RDU. I’m starting to enjoy it again after a brief lull of being quite disinterested in what I was doing.

This is Sarah and Bertie. Bertie is Laura’s pet bird. He knows how to swear and say asshole. Awesome. He decided to leave a “present” on my hoodie which has now been washed.
Laura’s cat Sooty was run over last night. Its sad cause Sooty was quite cool. I remember being overjoyed when I discovered my cat allergy had gone when Sooty curled up on the couch beside me at Sarah’s parents. No hives. It was pretty awesome.

This is a giant fish at Laura’s work. It was huge… bigger than my head. Bigger than the marrow which was bigger than James’ head! Now thats a big fish.

I got my watch back yesterday morning. Its been quite weird without it. I nearly overslept but woke up to the sound of the courier knocking on my door. I was a bit pissed off to get out of bed, but happy to have the watch back. I use it mostly at work where time accounting is a big thing. I have a neat pie chart which tells me how I use my time.

Today I nearly overslept again. This time the dodgy plug in my room came loose so my clock turned off. Woke up at 7:20 and freaked out about being late. I was going to have a shower but kind of failed and ended up going to work feeling pretty disgusting.

That put a dampener on my whole day actually. I just felt horrid and tired. Actually from about 4:30 onwards my focus was on getting out the door to catch the 5:02 bus home and dive in the shower straight away. As I walked out the door, I could hear people using my name in conversation but I just didn’t care.

After my shower I felt marginally better. No time for dinner as a result though. So I caught the Metro Star to Uni and chatted with Mr. Klein.

Like I said earlier. I’m more interested in RDU stuff at the moment cause there have been some really interesting bands appearing around the place. A lot from Auckland actually. Kind of a surprise because I tend to ignore a lot of Auckland scene bands, because well, past experience has told me they’re just that. Scene bands.

Um. Ok. So I drew this picture at RDU tonight.

When I got home, Stephen and Alice T were round. That made for some pleasant and interesting conversation. It looks like the log cabin kind of achieved one of the new goals on our list tonight. But that’s a secret goal list.

David had a shower and came out attired in an Artic Monkeys T-shirt. I interrogated him as at the Big Day Out we had kind of avoided seeing them. His answer was “I like the colour and it fit”.

Fair enough.

Fuck.

Its sleep time.

Tuesday

My hands are recovering. I don’t think I mentioned it before, but when I get stressed the skin peels on my fingers. I can’t explain it and yes its quite gross. Post-prom thankfully the skin is starting to recover and look normal again.

I’ve been waking up incredibly tired lately. Work is busy and kind of horrible cause they’re changing all the processes and its taking ages to get used to.

Over the weekend I walked the Bottle Lake Forest with Sarah, and we went to visit Laura and Bertie at work. So I won a prize in some raffle they were having. Proud owner of a massive pile of cat and dog food which I am slowly giving to people with pets.

Um. I guess not much else is happening with me at the moment. Looking forward to going camping with the girls at the end of the month. That should be sweet. We have some other plans for social-ness too. I’m hoping to try catch up with people that I have neglected. The Log Cabin made a list tonight, which for confidentiality reasons I can’t share exactly the contents of, but it made me realise I need to see some people more and others less.

Prom and such

Its been a crazy week. Making lists and sorting out my sleep deprivation issues- can’t sleep because I make so many mental lists that I feel the need to turn the light on and put them on paper to not forget.

Most of this stuff has been Prom related. I love organising shows but sometimes- especially when there is a lot financially riding on them for Red Panda it freaks me out to this level of crazy.

Anyway I think it ended up pretty well in spite of the usual few minor dramas. I just wasn’t totally in the mood for party times.

We didn’t end up doing proper prom photos this year cause of being too busy and too lazy to organise anything. At the end of the night we took a few for the half assed effort we had put in.

This morning I woke up feeling a bit jaded and a little at a loss. Usually I have a pile a mile long of things that need doing. Now that Prom is over I realised the list was small and quite frankly nothing seemed like a priority.

Nick came round and we went to the blue dairy on Colombo for ice creams.

I don’t recommend the Tip Top Ice Age ice creams. They look like shit… as proved by above. They are tiny… and their prizes that you can win are pretty awful too.

So I also got a Bubble O’Bill to make myself feel better.

Eamonn, Nick and I went for a walk to town. We came across this guy on the corner of Colombo and High St

He was playing some pretty awesome music.

I got texts from my best friends asking me to come round and hang out, so I jumped on the trusty (or not so) number 18 to St Albans and walked round to Nike’s.

(mmm emo.)

Hung out in the sun with Nike and Sarah till Caroline showed up.

Then we went for a big random drive which took in Sydenham, Cashmere, Hoon Hay, Riccarton, and town, before we settled on Oxford Tce for dinner.
So we parked up by the river and went for a wander down “The Strip”. We couldn’t find a place we really wanted to eat. Considering it was 7pm on a Saturday night, places were pretty empty.

The yellow Morris Minor (the dream car of at least 2 of these ladies) was parked on Cambridge Tce
We ended up walking down to Valentinos and eating a pretty good meal down there.

We rented a movie from Alice’s and went back to Nikes and watched that, before after all that exhaustion we wandered home. Now I’m in bed watching C4 and the best videos from movies. HAH.

mmm random photo from tonight

The sun rising over the road, waiting for the bus at the arse-crack of dawn.

Mike was less than impressed with his mini muffin breakfast

I slept all day Sunday to make up for this.

I was awake 44 hours between Thursday and Saturday. I got 6 hours sleep between Saturday morning and Sunday arriving to my own bed. Read more →

musings

Last night Nick and I collaborated on this

Yes Prom is coming!
It shall be awesome (fingers crossed)

Today I went on a values course from the council, it was quite interesting. Surprising almost to learn about the things I value personally. Kind of an eye opener you might say

So

I was trying to turn off the TV, but instead switched over to Letterman, and Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros were performing.
I like discovering music in weird ways like that. It was much better than what C4 was offering.

Round Up

It was a hard choice, but also an easy decision. T54 were the winners of the first heat which I judged.
James Sullivan was an amusing MC for the night.

Denny’s do free pancakes after midnight. A good place to be after such an event. Read more →
